The idea for Children of Israel arose out of the phenomenal success of Children of China and Children of Africa-South African Edition.

Several years ago, renowned fashion stylist Alethea Gold teamed up with award-winning photographer Luca Zordan to produce a beautiful photographic book about the children of China. Endorsed by Jackie Chan, this exquisite coffee-table book was published in time for the Beijing Olympics. The Chinese Government was extremely supportive of it, presenting Children of China to all their VIP guests during the Olympic Games. Thousands of copies were also purchased by the Chinese Olympic Committee and numerous corporations – including Coca Cola, Louis Vuitton, the Hyatt Hotel group, Four Seasons Hotels, several China-based banks, DHL and Zegna – as corporate gifts.

100% of the proceeds from Children of China were donated by Luca and Alethea to the Chi Heng Foundation to support orphaned HIV/AIDS-affected children in central China. The Chi Heng Foundation spent the money for music and art therapy for the children in their care and to take the children on summer camps.

Following the wonderful response to the China book, Alethea and Luca focused their creative efforts on producing a book on the children of South Africa, again pledging their time pro-bono. With support from Sir Bob Geldof and the South African Government, Children of Africa-South African Edition takes readers on a stunning photographic journey through South Africa’s diverse and incredible beauty via the eyes and faces of her children.

As with their first book, Alethea and Luca donated 100% of the profits from Children of Africa to the Afrika Tikkun charity which Nelson Mandela, its Chief Patron, describes as "working miracles". Afrika Tikkun has used the funds from the book and accompanying documentary to support a sports program for orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa in order to give them the opportunity for a better future by keeping them off the streets and out of trouble and by building self esteem and learning skills through sport.

Because Luca and Alethea are passionate about helping and empowering children all over the world they recently got together again to compile Children of Israel. The dazzling photos in this book will encompass Israeli children of all backgrounds throughout the country.

Luca and Alethea are again donating their time and talents to produce this latest book. Again 100% of the profits they make from Children of Israel will be donated to the Nurit Absorption Center which works to enrich the lives of Ethiopian Refugee children. The Nurit Center intends to use the donated funds to employ sports coaches and music teachers as well as buy sports equipment and musical instruments for the children they support in the belief that participation in musical and sporting activities enrich the children’s lives.
